As a former labor and delivery nurse, I regard newborn baby photography as one of my absolute favorites. There is nothing like cuddling with a little fresh baby, wrapping him or her, taking photos that melt everyone’s heart and calling it my job.

This new family was so easy to work with. First we took photos of the whole family and then the baby with each parent. Then we focused on the baby alone. During this phase of the session, the sweet baby girl was not a big fan of my bean bag. She preferred her mom’s arms and breast. She snacked pretty much non-stop. During the session mom told me her story of returning to the hospital after giving birth due to complications. I felt the baby needed to be with mom and on her breast precisely because of the, luckily brief, separation at the hospital. Newborn baby photography can be unpredictable, but with a lot of feeding breaks we still got it done.
