We live in such a beautiful area for photos, but you may wonder what are my best Asheville photo session locations for you next family photo session, maternity session or senior session. Here are some of my top spots I can always recommend.

 

 

The Biltmore Estate

I said it many times before. I love the Biltmore for my photo sessions. There are so many beautiful spots on the grounds of the estate. Some of my absolute favorites are the park setting and gardens near the house and the areas near the river and the lagoon. Overall, the Biltmore Estate provides a lot of variety. For those who want mountain views and want them without driving into the mountains, the Biltmore has that too! The spot with the views is typically my last shooting place of the Biltmore session when the light is perfect there with the sun slowly setting behind the mountains.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Botanical Gardens

What I like about the gardens is the natural park like setting which means a lot of greenery and beautiful fall colors in the fall. An icing on the cake is a water feature in a form of a lovely creek running through the garden. There is one spot on the creek in particular that I like to use at the end of the session. In short, being conveniently located close to downtown Asheville, this spot definitely belongs to my best Asheville photo session locations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The North Carolina Arboretum

The Arboretum is another beautiful setting right here in Asheville that offers a lot of variety. With lots of green spaces and a garden, the location never disappoints. The Arboretum is a great location to shoot particularly in the fall as it offers lovely fall colors. There is always plenty of parking and access to the shooting area is super easy.

 

 

 

 

Mountain locations

Want some incredible mountain views in the background of your photos? Then we talk about my top two mountain locations, Black Balsam Knob and Max Patch. Both require a drive and a short hike, but are so worth it. One of the reasons why these particular mountain locations are my favorite, is because the hike to the shooting spot is very easy that even small children and expecting mamas can do it without any problem.

One thing to remember is that these locations are typically 10-15 degrees cooler than Asheville which is especially nice in the summer but in the colder days may require an extra layer!

 

 

 

 

 

River Arts District (RAD)

Asheville is a colorful city with some awesome graffiti art. The RAD has a lot of color to offer as well as some interesting buildings and warehouses. This location, which is ever changing and evolving, is mainly popular with young clients, often my seniors. I’m all about color, so bring it on!

After Helene, however, the RAD has changed significantly. For example, the building featured in the photo does not exist anymore. Nevertheless, the area is constantly changing and transforming and offer plenty of photo session opportunities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

While these are some of my top and most frequented spots, I have other little gems of locations up my sleeve. Those are often spots with no name, usually an open field next to a shopping plaza or a neighborhood. And remember, I am always open to your own suggestions and favorite spots you may have.
