My 12 date night ideas in Asheville before the baby comes

You’re expecting and your due date is getting closer by the minute. I don’t need to tell you that your life is about to change! A lot! So how about a little special time with your loved one? Who knows when may be the next time you’ll get to do this. Here are my 12 date night ideas in Asheville before the baby comes.

  • 1. Pottery Painting – Right downtown Asheville you’ll find Fired Up Creative Lounge Asheville where you can let your creative side shine. Paint yourself a mug, a plate or whatever your heart desires.

  • 2. Couple’s Massage – Asheville has an endless list of spas and massage providers. To be safe, choose a massage treatment that’s designed specifically for soon-to-be moms (aka prenatal massages), and ask for a licensed therapist who’s experienced with pregnant clients. Prenatal massages make use of supportive body pillows and specially designed beds for baby bumps to best position a pregnant woman’s body. Here are a few where you can enjoy a session for just the two of you and have massage therapists certified in prenatal massage:  Still Point Wellness, Blazing Lotus Healing House.

  • 5. Bowling – Another fun activity even if you are not an expert bowler. You can always request the guide rails, you know? I’d recommend the AMF Star Lanes on Kenilworth Rd.

  • 6. Break-out Room – What great amusement testing not only your clue and puzzle solving, but also your communication and cooperation skills. You can check out the Breakout downtown or the Asheville Escape Room on Leicester Hwy.

  • 9. LaZoom Comedy Bus Tour – If you like to have some laughs, how about the original theater on wheels? This is what their website says: Explore the city with LaZoom Asheville Bus Tours’ wild guides to discover Asheville’s living, beating heart and quirky sense of humor! LaZoom is beloved by locals and visitors alike. Get on the bus for the ride of your life!

  • 10. Visit to the Biltmore Estate – There is so much to see at the Biltmore. You can spend hours here visiting the house, strolling through the beautiful gardens and parks, visit the Antler Hill Village with shopping, exhibits, and the Farmyard. And if you want to turn it up a notch, at the end of the day you can enjoy a dinner at one of the several restaurants on the property and even stay at the Village Hotel or the Biltmore Inn.

  • 11. Dinner date at a romantic Restaurant – This one is a no-brainer. Who doesn’t like to go out and have someone else cook a yummy meal? Luckily, Asheville has plenty to offer in the culinary department. How about some Indian? Andaaz is the newest and one of the best Indian restaurants in Asheville. Limones, with two smaller rooms and a bar, you can enjoy intimate conversations paired with Mexican and French-influenced Californian cuisine.  American contemporary Jargon is in the heart of West Asheville. Bull and Beggar is a high-end, River Arts District restaurant for meat-lovers. If you are vegan or vegetarian, this might not be the best restaurant for you. Posana is a contemporary American restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville on Historic Pack Square. Felling like tapas? Try Zambra, the taste of the Western Mediterranean. The Sunset Terrace at the Omni Grove Park Inn’ scores big on romance! The outdoor veranda sets the mood with a perfect view of the sunset over Asheville. There you can indulge in fine prime beef and seafood.

This is by no means a complete list of wonderful and romantic restaurants in Asheville. There are so many more and new ones popping up all the time.

  • 12. Picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway – We live is such a beautiful area with easy access to the most spectacular mountain views. The Parkway is completely open Spring through late Fall with some sections closed during the winter months. So, grab a blanket (or a comfy picnic chair for the mama-to-be), pack a basket with some yumminess and take in the views.
