Maternity photos in the mountains are full of magic; they certainly bring the photos to a different level.

Maren and Devin are an adventurous couple who wanted to capture the beauty of their pregnancy in a stunning mountain setting. They live in South Carolina and so it was an easy decision for them to take their photos in the mountains. Can you blame them? Within a short drive this area we live in has to offer so many amazing spots.

My go to places for maternity photos in the mountains are the Max Patch or the Black Balsam Knob. The reason is simple. Both are easily accessible by a short and easy hike and therefore, very suitable for my expecting clients.

For this session we wanted to visit the Black Balsam Knob. Since it was still winter we made sure to check prior to the session for road closures on the parkway. As we seemed not find any on this route, we decided to give it a go. Imagine our surprise when we hit a closed gate at the Pisgah Inn! I’ve been to the Inn before and knew there are absolutely stunning views right behind it. And since the Inn was not in season yet, there were no people. Therefore, we parked our cars and walked to the area of the Inn. And these photos below are the final results. I’d say plan B worked out pretty well, wouldn’t you?
